CareerBuilder.com Survey Reveals The Most Unusual Jobs From A to Z

CHICAGO, February 26, 2004 - What is the most unusual job you ever held? Circus Performer? Bowling Alley Mechanic? Military Missile Tester? CareerBuilder.com asked more than 1,900 employed, full-time workers to share the most interesting or unconventional jobs they took on during their careers. The results included everything from the dangerous to the delicate to the down right funny:

A - Assistant to a Magician
B - Blueberry Counter (literally counted blueberries)
C - Carnival Ride Operator
D - Dynamite Packer
E - Eye Bank Procurer (procured eyes and corneas for transplants and research)
F - Fantasy Theme Park Character
G - Gold Miner
H - High Priority Document Escort (traveled by airplane with boxes of documents that required their own seat and had to be watched by the escort at all times)
I - Instructor for Prison Education Program
J - Janitor for Zoo Cages
K - Karaoke DJ
L - Location Scout for Filming
M - Mountain Cave Tour Guide
N - Nanny for Company Guard Dog
O - Obituary Writer
P - Pet Photographer's Apprentice (dressed up pets in costumes for photos)
Q - Quality Control Manager for Fast Food Chain (drove around to different restaurant locations and sampled burgers)
R - Recreational Therapist for Psychiatric Hospital (played games with patients to sharpen cognitive and motor skills)
S - Shopper (tested professionalism of store staff by acting as a potential customer)
T - Trapper of Black Bears
U - Undercover Investigator
V - Voice for Recorded Announcements
W - Whisker for Carpet Company (removed lint from carpet samples all day)
X - Xmas Gift Wrapper
Y - Yoga Instructor
Z - Zip Code Finder (looked up zip codes for callers)

Survey Methodology
The CareerBuilder.com survey "Plans for 2004" was conducted from November 18, 2003 to December 4, 2003 of more than 1,900 employed full-time workers. To collect data for the survey, CareerBuilder.com commissioned SurveySite to use an e-mail methodology whereby individuals who are members of SurveySite Web Panel were randomly selected and approached by e-mail invitation to participate in the online survey. The results of this survey are accurate within +/- 2.23 percentage points (19 times out of 20).
