CareerBuilder.com Successfully Completes Launch of Gannett Newspapers and Its Television Stations as CareerBuilder.com Affiliates

Both Companies Accomplished Rollout in Record Time; Gannett to Boost CareerBuilder Network's National Market Share to 20 Percent

CHICAGO, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- CareerBuilder.com, the industry's most complete recruitment resource for efficiently finding better candidates and jobs, today announced the completion of the launch of 93 Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) newspapers nationwide and its television stations in 19 markets as CareerBuilder.com affiliates. The Gannett newspapers, including USATODAY.com and its television stations, feature CareerBuilder.com as the career channel on their respective Web sites.

As the newest CareerBuilder affiliates, the Gannett newspapers and television stations connect job seekers and employers directly to CareerBuilder.com. Job seekers and employers can now tap into CareerBuilder.com's online career services at the classified job posting section of each newspaper and at the Jobs page of each television station's Web site.

"On October 2, we announced that we had joined CareerBuilder and now, just 10 weeks later, we have successfully completed the CareerBuilder rollout at all of Gannett's 112 media outlets," said Jack Williams, vice president of business development at Gannett. "To finish this conversion in such a short period of time is an affirmation of the strong working relationship between our companies."

"The partnership with Gannett allows us to offer employers greater reach and distribution for their employment openings, locally and nationally," said Matt Ferguson, chief operating officer at CareerBuilder. "Whether searching for a job or posting a resume or profile, skilled, hourly and salaried job seekers can easily connect to both local and national job opportunities through these CareerBuilder affiliates."

"The addition of Gannett's newspaper and television station Web sites to the network will help to further accelerate CareerBuilder's market share gain in online recruitment," said Ferguson. "CareerBuilder increased its market share by 2 percentage points from the end of 2001 through the third quarter of 2002. With Gannett on board, we expect to bring the CareerBuilder Network's national share to approximately 20 percent."

In addition to its online presence on the Web sites of the newspapers and television stations, CareerBuilder now delivers local help wanted ads to a combined Sunday circulation of 15 million through more than 130 newspapers of Gannett, Knight Ridder and Tribune Company.
