CareerBuilder's Ongoing Advertising Blitz to Create Super Sundays All Year Long

CareerBuilder's Online Traffic Rises More Than 50 Percent and Job Postings Increase 37 Percent

CHICAGO, January 24, 2003 - CareerBuilder, the industry's most complete recruitment resource for efficiently finding better candidates and jobs, increased its online traffic by more than 50 percent and total job postings by 37 percent this month with the recent launch of its yearlong national marketing campaign. The campaign's advertising combines primetime national network and cable television with local radio, print, spot television, airport and outdoor ads. It is being supplemented with in-kind advertising support from the more than 130 newspapers, 46 television stations and Web sites of partners, Gannett, Co., Inc., Tribune Company and Knight Ridder, Inc.

"CareerBuilder's aggressive marketing program has been well received because it delivers a relevant message that hits home, and the increase in site traffic shows it," said Scott Brueggeman, Vice President of Consumer Marketing. "The campaign highlights the online products and resources CareerBuilder.com offers to help people find the right job. The additional print, television and radio support from our partners enables us to take that message to an even larger audience Sunday through Sunday."

The campaign positions CareerBuilder as "the smarter way to find a better job," and is projected to reach millions of potential job seekers.

CareerBuilder's television ads blend a touch of humor with job search products by comparing more questionable ways to find employment to the smarter way using CareerBuilder. The commercials are appearing on national network television including NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and the WB as well as national cable television including CNN, TNT, FOX News, Comedy Central, TBS, FX and others.

"It's interesting that some competitors have waited until the end of January to launch their campaigns especially since January is such an active month for job seekers and employers," said Brueggeman. "We believe running a consistent campaign throughout the year is more effective in reaching and helping consumers than just focusing on a particular event. CareerBuilder is the smarter way to find a better job and we believe our campaign is the smarter way to invest our advertising dollars."
