CareerBuilder and EMSI Release Projected Growth in the Health Care Industry by Occupation for 2013-2023

CHICAGO, June 12, 2013 – The health care industry continues to expand at a healthy pace, while other industries struggle to recover from the recession. Home health aides, veterinary technologists/technicians, and diagnostic medical sonographers lead the list of health care occupations expected to grow the most over the next decade, according to new research from CareerBuilder and EMSI (Economic Modeling Specialists International).

EMSI, CareerBuilder’s data arm, gathers and integrates economic, labor market, demographic, and education data from dozens of government and private-sector sources, creating a comprehensive and current database that includes both published data and detailed estimates with full coverage of the United States. EMSI projects employment data 10 years out by first creating short-, mid-, and long-term trends for every industry and county based on historical data. These are extrapolated into the future and adjusted to prevent extreme projected growth or decline. Initial projections are then adjusted using national industry projections (from the BLS), as well as state and sub-state regional projections provided by individual states for wage-and-salary workers.
