Chicago Cubs and CareerBuilder Launch Search for Next Wrigley Field Ball Boys and Ball Girls

Candidates can submit applications on CareerBuilder.com by March 12

CHICAGO, March 7, 2012 – The Chicago Cubs have partnered with CareerBuilder to find four ball boys/ball girls for the 2012 baseball season at Wrigley Field. Qualified candidates are invited to submit their applications, including a video sample, now through March 12 at http://cubs.careerbuilder.com. The team will select 50 semifinalists to attend live tryouts at BASH Sports Academy in Chicago on March 19. A group of finalists will then travel to Mesa, Ariz. March 26-28 to perform the required job duties during Spring Training. The team’s final selections will be hired by March 30.

Chicago Cubs Baseball ball boys/ball girls are responsible for monitoring the out-of-play lines for right and left field and retrieving baseballs once they are designated foul by the base umpires. Attendants will rotate the responsibility of delivering new baseballs to the home plate umpire as necessary.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age by Opening Day (April 5) and available to work a minimum of 65 regular season games, including days, nights, weekends and holidays. Candidates must be able to safely and successfully retrieve baseballs hit by Major League Baseball players and stand and run for extended periods of time. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of Major League Baseball rules regarding fair and foul territory and possess an ability to remain alert, follow procedures and exercise sound judgment while working in a fast-paced environment.
