Lover's Lane is Often Paved at Work According to Valentine's Day Survey
Schools, Places of Worship and Workplaces are Picked as Top Spots To Meet Mr. or Ms. Right, CareerBuilder Survey Finds
RESTON, Va., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Want to meet Mr. or Ms. Right?
Schools, places of worship and workplaces -- ranked third -- are the best bets
for romantic interludes, according to the Valentine's Day @ Work survey
conducted on behalf of CareerBuilder.
As Valentine's Day nears, more than sixty percent of workers say they have
special plans. Over twenty-five percent of workers, according to the
CareerBuilder survey, say they plan to have lunch or dinner with someone
special. Nearly three-quarters of workers would like to receive a special
Valentine's Day gesture at work, with flowers topping the list for women and a
phone call from someone special topping the list for men.
"Husbands, boyfriends and significant others take note: nine-in-ten of
those preferring flowers at work are women," noted Barry Lawrence, a senior
career advisor at CareerBuilder. "Wives, girlfriends and significant others
also take note: two-thirds of those preferring not to receive anything at work
are men."
Best places to start a romance, according to more than 2,100 workers
polled:
* Schools, universities and colleges - 16%
* Places of worship - 11%
* Workplaces - 9%
* The Internet - 5%
Most popular Valentine's Day plans:
* Take someone special out to dinner or lunch - 28%
* Send a card, candy, flowers or other gift to someone at their home - 14%
* Send a card, candy, flowers or other gift to someone at their place of work - 7%
* Phone call to someone special - 4%
Top Valentine's Day gestures at work:
* Flowers - 31%
* Would not want to receive anything - 26%
* Phone call from someone special - 14%
* Greeting card - 8%
The CareerBuilder Valentine's Day @ Work Survey was conducted January 30,
2002, through February 5, 2002. A total of 2,108 workers participated in the
survey. Samples of this size yield results which are accurate to within +/-
2.1 percentage points (19 times out of ten). To collect data for The Survey,
CareerBuilder commissioned SurveySite to use an e-mail methodology whereby
individuals who are members of SurveySite Web Panel were randomly selected and
approached by e-mail invitation to participate in the online survey.
