New CareerBuilder Employment Sections Debut in More Than 30 Newspapers, Starting Sunday

RESTON, Va., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- CareerBuilder(R), Knight-Ridder, Inc. (NYSE: KRI), and Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB) announced today that they will debut CareerBuilder-branded employment sections in more than 30 newspapers throughout the United States, beginning Sunday. The new sections will contain a wealth of local jobs and career information for job seekers and employers; the new employment sections will further establish CareerBuilder as the local recruitment solution of choice.

"Whether at work, home or on the road, CareerBuilder delivers the best employer exposure, the right jobs and the most valuable career advice in the communities where people live," said Rob McGovern, chairman and CEO of CareerBuilder. "The new CareerBuilder employment sections are a perfect complement to job seeker and employer services found online as part of the CareerBuilder Network."

This Sunday, September 30, CareerBuilder employment sections will appear in the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Philadelphia Inquirer, The Morning Call (Allentown, Pa.), The San Jose Mercury News, The Miami Herald, The South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Contra Costa Times. The Dallas Morning News, a subsidiary of Belo, also premiered a newly designed CareerBuilder employment section. Several other Tribune and Knight Ridder newspapers will introduce CareerBuilder employment sections throughout October and November, reaching 70 percent of people living in each of these local markets.

"Newspaper help wanted ads continue to be one of the first places people look for a job," said Tim Landon, president of Tribune Classified Services. "Extending the CareerBuilder brand in print creates a single, integrated go-to source for print and online recruitment for job seekers and employers."

"This powerful print and online combination provides CareerBuilder expansive reach into local communities," said Dan Finnigan, president of Knight Ridder Digital. "The re-naming of our employment sections and the ability to cross-promote the CareerBuilder brand signals a new era in the recruiting industry."

CareerBuilder, Knight Ridder and Tribune will combine the cross- promotional abilities of their media properties to drive awareness of the CareerBuilder brand. In support of the section debuts, the companies are launching a comprehensive marketing and advertising campaign that includes television, radio, outdoor, newspaper and Internet advertising in the fourth quarter.

The new CareerBuilder employment sections will include:
* Advice on career planning and job searching.
* Career advice from CareerBuilder experts.
* Local and national job market trends and information.
* Local profiles of business people.
* CareerBuilder poll results.
* Premium advertising space and special sponsorships of features like "Employer of the Week" and "Job of the Week."

"Now, employers can easily gain exposure in both print and online, reaching millions of readers of the nation's leading newspapers and millions of online subscribers throughout the CareerBuilder Network," McGovern said.
