GEHA, Inc.

(Non-profit)
Insurance, Not for Profit - Charitable, Government - Civil Service
1,000 - 2,500 employees  |
Overview

GEHA is a nonprofit member association that provides
medical and dental benefits to more than two million federal employees and
retirees, military retirees and their families. Offering one of the largest
medical and dental benefit provider networks available to federal employees in
the United States, GEHA empowers health and wellness by meeting its members
where they are, when they need care. We serve our members
with products they value and a personalized customer experience, sustained by a
nimble and efficient organization.

GEHA has one mission: To empower federal workers to be
healthy and well. Civil servants are the backbone of America – they are who
care for our nation’s veterans, keep our national defense systems running,
inspect the safety of the food we feed our families and deliver that letter to
your daughter in the Air Force. For 85 years, we have done what we do best so
that these unsung heroes can do what they do best – tackling the
nation’s challenges on our behalf.

At GEHA we embody that same spirit of dedication as our
members, and GEHA is there every step of the way to support our employees. We
take care of our own, offering employees a holistic set of benefits that
supports personal health, safety and well-being. From our health studio to
mindfulness workshops and online workouts to above-market benefits, we walk the
talk. GEHA champions growth for every member of our team and the quality and
caliber of our employees clearly reflect that. We provide a collaborative, open
work environment where actions and communications are supportive and
goal-oriented. We approach opportunities and challenges with a growth mindset
and continue to evolve and update our work environment – all with the goal of
enabling employees to bring the best version of themselves to work every day. We recognize the importance of balance and flexibility and
offer hybrid and work-from-home options for many of our roles.

Across the company at all levels, employees are expected to
act with integrity and encouraged to be proactive and persistent in work that
positively impacts the company, themselves and the community.
Diversity, equity and inclusion deeply
impact how we do business, including how we support our community, serve our
members and support our employees.
We
believe
diversity drives innovation, deepens connections and
strengthens our organization.

We live our values every day and GEHA’s long, rich heritage
of supporting the communities we serve through grants, volunteerism and major
sports sponsorships help us celebrate the civil servants who dedicate
themselves to making a difference for our nation and help sustain the quality
of life in America. With a focus on health equity and military veteran/family
support, GEHA and our employees are able to support local and national
nonprofits that are creating tangible change in communities in which we live
and serve.

Headquartered in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, near
Kansas City, with approximately 1,600 employees, GEHA is deeply committed to
its members and employees – and their communities.
Since 2021, GEHA has held exclusive naming
rights to
GEHA
Field at Arrowhead Stadium
, home to the Kansas
City Chiefs.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our diversity drives innovation, deepens connections and strengthens our organization. We support and empower an inclusive culture which is grounded in equity, dignity and respect for all.

Employee Resource Groups:

At GEHA, our employee resource groups (ERGs) provide employee support and networking opportunities, help the organization recruit and retain diverse talent and are an asset and catalyst for innovation and business growth. Our ERGs’ vision is to help GEHA create both systemic and personal change across the organization, so that all employees may realize their full potential and experience authentic belonging at work.

GEHA is proud to have six active ERGs who each play a vital part in fostering an inclusive workplace:

  • I.C.E.B.E.R.G. (Inspiring Corporate Equity, Black ERG): Black/African American employees
  • Prism: LGBTQ+ employees
  • Unidos: Latinx employees
  • Veterans @ GEHA: Military veteran employees
  • AAPI ERG
  • Disability ERG

All ERGs are inclusive of employees who identify as members of these groups, along with employee allies.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion actions, awards and recognition:

All are welcome at GEHA

At GEHA, we thrive by creating an environment where each of our employees can bring their whole selves to work. We approach diversity and inclusion purposefully, with clearly articulated goals, accountability and an emphasis on people, culture and community.

Diverse backgrounds

We know that a variety of perspectives and lived experiences generate better ideas. That is why we strive to reflect the diversity we seek throughout all areas of our organization. We are always building and reviewing our programs to support hiring, retention and succession planning programs that are equitable and inclusive across our diverse talent pool.

An inclusive culture

It is important to us that employees feel a deep sense of belonging and are empowered to be themselves at work. Our impact-driven Diversity & Inclusion Council supports our employees by creating inclusive and equitable work environments and educational opportunities. Programs this team leads — such as unconscious bias training and our meaningful recognition of Black History Month, LGBT Pride Month and Hispanic Heritage Month — help us all learn and grow together.

Community impact
With a focus on health equity and military veteran/family support, our employees are able to support local and national nonprofits that are creating tangible change in communities in which we live and serve. Through volunteerism, in-kind giving, an employee-led health equity educational series featuring community and academic subject matter experts, and our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), GEHA is committed to creating positive change around health and wellness.
