Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)is a consortium of 99 doctoral-granting academic institutions. ORAU member universities strive to advance scientific research and education by creating mutually beneficial collaborative partnerships involving academe, government, and industry.

ORAU is also a 501(c)(3) a non-profit corporation. In this role, ORAU operates the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education as a federal contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
