Emprise Bank
Headquartered in Wichita, Emprise Bank stretches across Kansas - from Hays to Lawrence, Wichita to Moran - and continues to be a leader in the Kansas financial services industry.
Emprise Financial Corporation, the holding company for Emprise Bank, is privately owned by W.A. Michaelis and his son, M.D. Michaelis. Together, they are the sole stockholders of Emprise Financial Corporation. The headquarters of Emprise Bank is Wichita, KS and is led by Thomas A. Page as Chief Executive Officer, with M.D. Michaelis serving as Chairman. Each community bank market is led by a community bank president.
The roots of Emprise Bank began in Wichita during 1910 as Stockyards Bank. Through subsequent acquisitions and mergers beginning in 1965, the Michaelis family owned three banks in Wichita by 1988 - National Bank of Wichita, United American Bank and Wichita State Bank. On January 1, 1989, these three banks were merged to form Emprise Bank becoming a dominant competitor in Wichita's marketplace.
While creating a presence in the Wichita market, the Michaelis family also purchased Allen County Bank & Trust in Iola (1970), Potwin State Bank in Potwin (1979), and in 1980 they purchased Citizens National Bank in Eureka and First National Bank in Toronto. The Michaelis family purchased Council Grove Bancshares, Inc. and Council Grove National Bank in 1982.
Continuing the commitment to be a strong community bank in the state of Kansas, they purchased First National Bank in Hillsboro in 1985, followed by the purchase of First National bank of Hays in 1986. In 1991, the Lawrence branch facility of Columbia Savings Association was purchased. Emprise Bank acquired Wichita Federal Savings & Loan - increasing their market share and doubling their asset size - in 1997, and opened a bank in El Dorado in August 2002. Three Enterprise Bank branches were purchased in Chanute, Humboldt, and Moran in April 2003.
In November, 2006, Emprise Bank merged with Prairie State Bank, adding eleven additional branches to the Emprise network. The Emprise system now includes locations in the following Kansas communities: Andover, Augusta, Chanute, Council Grove, El Dorado, Eureka, Goddard, Hays, Haysville, Hillsboro, Humboldt, Iola, Lawrence, Maize, Moran, Mulvane, Park City, Potwin, Rose Hill, Toronto, Valley Center, and Wichita.
The future for Emprise Bank is strong in Kansas. Through strong working capital, dynamic leadership and a commitment to community growth, Emprise has developed a niche as the approachable community bank where customer relationships still have value, with local decision making and a willingness to make it work for the customer.
With the bank's commitment to its customers, its employees, its communities and its shareholders, the future for Emprise Bank is bright.
